Access Noosa
sunshine coast access guide
Noosa National Park is on the the headland at Noosa. The park has accessible pathways at the entrance with scenic views across picturesque Laguna Bay. If you enjoy photography this is a 'must do' on your itinary!
The National Park is a mix of rocky coastline, rainforest and bush scrub vegetation. There are lots of native Australian birds, bush turkeys and goannas to observe, and if you look carefully, you may also see a koala in one of the many Australian gum trees.
The main entrance is at the end of Park Road, where wheelchair accessible car parking is available for permit holders. Close by are picnic areas with lots of shade cover and an accessible Information Centre.
From the main entrance there is a path into the National Park, and the first 500 metres or so is easily accessible in a manual chair. It takes you through bushland, emerging at a spectacular lookout.
A new paved (cement) track has recently been opened between Tea Tree Bay and Dolphin Point. It is fully wheelchair accessible and takes about 20 - 30 minutes to complete at a comfortable pace.
There are also numerous other walking tracks, with varying degrees of difficulty. The easiest walk (for people with limited mobility) is the 1 kilometre Palm Grove Circuit, although this is not wheelchair accessible.
Currently the closest accessible toilet is at Tea Tree Bay (about 20 minutes walk from the car park). A new wheelchair accessible toilet is also being built at the park entrance, and should be completed by mid December 2003.
