PADP Inquiry - Have your say

Submitted by Greg Killeen, Information Officer SCI Australia & ARATA Consumer Representative.

SCI Australia is calling for submissions to the Parliament of New South Wales Legislative Council inquiry into the Program of Appliances for Disabled People (PADP).

SCI Australia has been working on a number of PADP issues. They are trying to ensure there is a strong representation with submissions to the PADP Inquiry from all stakeholders, and have been able to extend the submission deadline to Monday, September 8, 2008.

It is important to have PADP issues brought to the attention of the Parliamentary committee on which it can make appropriate recommendations to the NSW Government with anticipation of obtaining adequate funding from the NSW Treasury to meet the needs of people with a disability and older people.

SCI Australia have prepared background information about the PADP Inquiry (available on their website). If you have any queries about this, please contact Sean Lomas, Policy & Information Manager or Greg Killeen by calling 02 9661 8855.

The Parliamentary website has details about how to make a submission as well as a list of public submissions received by the committee in relation to this inquiry.

This is a great opportunity to 'mend' what could be a highly effective program. Only through your submissions is this possible. There is 1 week to go!
